…Only for a moment!

Three years ago I was told to start my cycling blog again. So I did. It was one post and then I stopped, again…until now. Why did I stop? I had increased my cycling so much that I didn’t find time to pay any attention to my blog. Writing, adding pictures and making it better. I kept telling myself to get back at it, you actually like to write stories and well yes you like to ride a bicycle so why not bring them together to share with others.

Soooooo here I am… again. Starting the rebirth of my blog, BikeSantaClarita! Yippie! There I said it! WhooHoo! I will have as much fun with this blog as I do riding my bicycle(s).

Here is a synopsis of what has happened in these past three years:

  • I have taken many photos and saved them from my rides, weather they were road or mountain bike adventures.
  • I began racing mountain bikes again after a 15 year hiatus. I started back up on the very same dirt where I stopped 15 years ago at Castaic Lake.
  • I gave time trialing a try at Uncle Tren’s TT in Piru.
  • I became more involved in the community pertaining to cycling as a member of the Santa Clarita Valley Bicycle Coalition.
  • Met some really cool bicycle people!

Yes! Santa Clarita is a host city for the 4th year out of the last 6 years for the TOC, Amgen Tour Of California!

People always ask me, “Is it a good time to sell during the holidays?”

ABSOLUTELY is my immediate response. Being a realtor for 10 years now I can tell you that anyone that is  buying (or selling) during the holidays is serious. They are motivated and it is a win win for all. As far as sellers, your home never looked better. All decorated for the holidays both inside and out. People enjoy this time of year and the mood is a happy one. There is less competition for both buyers and sellers as well.

An experienced Realtor will take advantage of this opportunity and do the best marketing with all the decorations and people driving by looking for houses with lights. Having an open house would be a great idea as well. While the holiday season can be the roughest on you and your family, the sale of your home would be great!

Rain or shine, the buyers and sellers that are focused out  there and are ready to close on a home during the holidays, are worth their weight in gold.

Bear Divide is a nice quiet hilly ride. Oh, I forgot to put in grueling! Not sure of the acent percentage but it’s at least 8%…I think! I am usually in the lowest gear most of the hill. It wiggles back and forth until it gets to the top at the look out point. At this point, if you were to keep going the road changes to Little T or Little Tujunga. This comes out on the corner of Osborne and foothill in Sylmar.

If you don’t want to go all the way around to foothill and the old road or foothill and sierra highway then you stop there. Catch a view of Santa Clarita Valley perhaps sit on a picnic bench and catch your breath as well!

Coming back down Bear Divide the speed picks up pretty quick and with the hairpin turns it just a great ride back. Then after your thrills there you hop onto Placerita Canyon and do the mini roller coaster over to Sierra Highway and then either back onto the bicycle trail behind Newhall Ave or on San Fernando back into Valencia.

A bike lane anywhere is a good thing but in the Industrial park? I go through there a lot on my bicycle and never ever feel endangered. It’s much safer on those roads then most of the major roads in Santa Clarita. How about McBean or Valencia Blvd or Magic Mountain. I’m not complaining as I am happy the city is making progress!

Anyway here is a link to the article.
